The Petroleum Institute of Pakistan organized a day long Pakistan Oil and Gas Conference (POGC) at Islamabad's Marriot Hotel. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was the chief guest on the occasion. The theme of the event was the Emerging Fuel Mix for Pakistan and Markets Outlook. In his speech, the Prime Minister said that the PML-N government has fully delivered on its promises and has effectively tackled the energy crisis that haunted the previous governments.
He said that the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has helped the country adequately meet its energy needs, and asked for objective intellectual input for optimal use of renewable sources of energy.
"Today things are moving forward. We have new reserves, oil production has increased to 100,000 barrels per day, which was substantial, but still not enough," the Prime Minister said. "Miracles do not happen, but it is the willingness to change, that makes the difference," he said and added that much more needs to be done for the oil and gas exploration. He said the local companies need to deliver and added that the government was not interfering in their working.
