At least eight people including children and women were killed and several others injured in a landslide incident in Bajaur Agency's Sikandaro area on Friday. According to details reports, the deceased people were gathering mud for a house in a mountainous area when they were struck by a landslide. Officials said many people were trapped under mud and rock following the landslide in the Gardai area.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene. Locals said seven people, including five women and a child, were killed in the incident. The people injured in the landslide were taken to Peshawar for treatment. Locals who gathered there to undertake rescue efforts recovered the bodies of six girls, one boy and one woman from the debris, the reports added.
Meanwhile, one person got hurt when Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, planted by unknown miscreant in Rangar street car parking of Landi Kotal Bazaar in Khyber tribal Agency on Friday morning. Assistant Political Agent (APA) Landi Kotal Niaz Muhammad said that the heavy intensity bomb was placed to the boundary wall of the parking that exploded with big bang, injuring a local passerby. The wounded identified as Muhammad Rehman son of Noor Muhammad, resident of Piro Khel was taken to Landi Kotal hospital for medical aid where his condition was stated to be stabled, doctor said. Four vehicles parked in the lot were also damaged in the blast, APA told.
