Jordan's state grain buyer has issued another international tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of animal feed barley to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Thursday. Tender deadline is November 8, traders said. Jordan has struggled to purchase wheat and barley in tenders in past months after new terms on quality control and payment were introduced which reduced participation by international trading houses.
But the country did buy 100,000 tonnes of barley on Wednesday after three previous barley tenders ended without a purchase. The barley in the new tender is sought in a range of possible shipment combinations in 50,000 tonne consignments between March 1 and April 30, 2018, they said. A separate tender from Jordan for 100,000 tonnes of wheat also closes on Thursday.
