The Karachi Port handled 251,767 tonnes of cargo comprising 207,287 tonnes of import cargo and 44,480 tonnes of export cargo including 4,172 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 207,287 tonnes comprised of 80,224 tonnes of containerised cargo; 03 tonnes of general cargo; 66,810 tonnes of coal and 60,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,480 tonnes comprised of 28,204 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,976 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 2,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,172 containers comprising of 3,500 containers import and 672 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,392 of 20's and 1,024 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 30 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 123 of 20's and 136 of 40's loaded containers while 23 of 20's and 127 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely CMA CGM Georgia, Prosper, Virgo, Fowairet, Bodo Schulte, UASC Ibn Sina, MT Lahore, Winterset, Intrepid Schulte, Whiting Ann and Noble Coral carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, tug and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were thirteen vessels viz. Cosco New York, Hyundai Force, Kota Lahir, Newark, CMA CGM Georgia, Prosper, Virgo, UASC Ibn Sina, BW Thames, Alpine Monique, TRF Kristansand, Whiting Ann and Ocean Star carrying containers, oil tankers and tug respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Newark, Darya Brahma and Positive Passion carrying containers, coal and vehicle sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Kota Lahir and Cosco New York carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. There were five vessels Houston Express, Sima Genesis, Seacon-8, Glovis Supreme and Spiekroog carrying containers, steel, vehicle and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz. YM Wealth, Selini, Oriental Jasmine and Sea Prosperity carrying containers, oil tankers, steel and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A cargo volume of 143,456 tonnes comprising 103,271 tonnes of import cargo and 40,185 tonnes of export cargo including 3,242 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. As many as 3,242 containers comprising of 1,127 containers import and 2,115 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CV APL Japan and MV Kristinita carrying containers and bulk cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Japan, CV Cape Mayor, MV Kristinita, MV Chang An, MV Global Garnet, MV Kiran Marmara, MV QI-Xiang-22, MT Epic Sicily and MT Jag Lleela currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, animal feeds, Steel coil, bulk cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely CV MSC Rachele, CV MSC Pamela and MT King Craft carrying containers and LPG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Pamela, CV MSC Rachele and CV Newark carrying containers respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal respectively on Monday. There was one ships namely MT Ashada carrying oil tanker due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely CV MSC Busan and CV Maersk Detroit carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
