Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures fell on Friday amid worries about US export business as Brazil's currency weakened, making supplies from the South American agricultural exporter more attractive to buyers such as China, traders said. CBOT January soyabeans settled down 12-1/2 cents at $9.86-3/4 per bushel, retreating from Thursday's 1-1/2-week high of $10.00-1/2.
For the week, the contract was nearly unchanged, rising 1/4 cent following a two-week slide. CBOT December soyameal ended down $3.50 on Friday at $313.90 per short ton and December soyaoil fell 0.44 cent at 34.42 cents per pound, following soyabeans. Soyabean planting in Brazil advanced to 43 percent of the estimated area through Thursday, compared with 53 percent a year earlier, consultancy AgRural said.
