Right-arm medium fast bowler Awais and spinner Zohaib guided BISE Peshawar to record four wickets victory against BISE Gujranwala in the final match of the Pakistan Inter-Board Boys Cricket Championship played here at Islamia College Peshawar ground. BISE Gujranwala won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 113 runs with opening batsmen Israr and Umar provided 52 runs.
In reply BISE Peshawar chased the target for the loss of six wickets with Moeen struck 23 runs, Rustam and Owais scored an unbeaten 37 and 18 runs and Farman scored 17 runs. A total of 29 teams took part in the All Pakistan Inter-Board Boys Cricket Championship organized by the directorate of sports Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar. In the Championship Peshawar got first position, followed by BISE Gujranwala and BISE Bahawalpur.
Professor Dr Fazlur Rehman, Chairman BISE Peshawar, was the chief guest on this occasion. Director Sports BISE Peshawar and former international athlete Manzar Khan, Secretary, Controller of Examination BISE Peshawar and large number of players and spectators were also present and witnessed the final match. Speaking on this occasion, Chairman BISE Peshawar Professor Dr Fazlur Rehman lauded the Directorate of Sports for holding the event in a smooth and cordial atmosphere with all the 29 teams.
He said that the BISE Peshawar is giving top priorities to the healthy sports activities and that is why they have allocated huge fund for the complete rehabilitation of the present sports infrastructures besides constructing a well-equipped and modern indoor gymnasium in the premises of BISE Peshawar so that in future the board will be able to organized indoor games as well. He said BISE Peshawar is a key partner with Pakistan Board as far as holding of various activities at All Pakistan level is concerned.
At the end, Chairman BISE Peshawar Professor Dr Fazlur Rehman gave away trophies and cash prizes to the position holders teams. He also assured the players that all out resources would be utilized in future to facilities players come to Peshawar for different sports activities.
