The Karachi Port handled 114,004 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,944 tonnes of import cargo and 14,060 tonnes of export cargo including 5,592 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 99,944 tonnes comprised of 43,298 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,817 tonnes of general cargo; 36,416 tonnes of bulk cargo: 22,500 tonnes of coal; 13,916 tonnes of fertilizer and 17,413 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,060 tonnes comprised of 14,060 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,592 containers comprising of 3,349 containers import and 2,243 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 815 of 20's and 1,175 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 91 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 337 of 20's and 226 of 40's loaded containers while 404 of 20's and 525 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely KMTC Dubai, Cosco Durban, Northern Practise, Cevdet-A and Chang Hang Jin Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. OOCL Shanghai, Northern Dependant, Cevdet-A, Houyoshi Park, Genuine Galaxy and Nasco Jade carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Northern Dependant, Magnolia and Symphony carrying containers, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday. There were four vessels MOL Eminence, SC Shenzhen, Zante and Bulk Pegasus carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz. APL Antwerp, Hansa Neuburg, Chemical Aquarius, BW Amazon, Kong Que Zuo and Thorco Cassiopeia carrying containers, chemical, mogas and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total export cargo of 17,233 tonnes includes 17,233 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,143 containers comprising of 2,236 containers import and 907 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely CV Maersk Chicago and MV Diamond-T carrying containers and chemical sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Chicago, CV CSAV Tyndall, CV X-Press Makalu, MV Trade Will, MV Yasa Aysen, MV Sakizaya Elegance, MV Genuine Hercules, MV Diamond-T, MT Al Jassasiya, MT Leader and MT Chemroad Wing currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, sunflower seeds, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely MV Majestic Sky, MV Magia, MV Diyaa-B, MV Chembull Dog, MT King Craft, MT Sea Speed, MT Lion-M, MT Maistro, MT Mezaira, MT Bahra, MT Yukon Star and MT Bunga Angsana carrying soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, clinker, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There was one vessel viz. MV Chembull Dog carrying chemical expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely CV GH Chriook, CV Torrento, CV Prosper and MV Thetis carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV Mataquitto carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
