KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak while presiding over a meeting to review progress on the Bus Rapid Transit project Peshawar has directed for accelerated work on the project. The meeting focused on the pace of progress, smooth vehicular flow, construction of parking plazas, smooth connectivity at Pir Zakori Flyover Ring Road, construction work on reach I, II and III of the bus rapid transit.
The meeting was attended by CM's Advisor for Transport, Shah Muhammad Wazir, Head SSU Sahibzada Saeed, Commissioner Peshawar Division Dr Fakhre Alam and other officials concerned. Addressing the participants, the CM directed to speed up the pace of work and acquisition of land for the project. It is a third generation project giving one solution to all the traffic congestions in the entire Peshawar City adding that the people would certainly suffer during the construction phase of the project but this duration would stay for a six months and bearable as the additional outlets to the main corridor were open and widened for the diversion of traffic. Even the existing road can bear the vehicular load to a considerable level.
Now the project was out of the conceptual phase and entered to operational phase. It was a challenge but the government went all-out to complete it, he added. Khattak agreed to different adjustments in the overall design of the bus rapid transit in order to facilitate the maximum vehicular flow through a futuristic approach. He directed for the green belt in the corridor in order to enhance the beautiful outlook of the entire project. He was satisfied with the way the process of implementation and construction had been carried out.
He also directed to continue working on the up gradation of feeder routes of the project. He agreed to the proposal for the signalized junction at the zero access at Pir Zakori Flyover. The CM directed to ensure the tendering for the construction of parking plazas and directed the concerned officials to coordinate with the Secretary Information for the timely display of advertisement.
