Police on Sunday resorted to teargas shelling and baton-charge alongside use of water cannon to disperse the Fixit campaigners to prevent them from entering the high-security Red Zone. The Fixit campaigners gathered outside the Karachi Press Club to protest against the Sindh government over its failure to fix the problems relating to education system.
The protesters tried to enter the Red Zone area, hastening the police cops to spray them with teargas shells and jets of high-pressure water to disperse them. Police also baton charged them to foil their bid to march towards the Governor House in the high-security Red Zone. There were no reports of serious injuries to protesters as a result of police action. Later, speaking to the media, Fixit founder Alamgir lamented the police action against what he said the peaceful protesters. He said some of his supporters were also rounded up.
