Leading medical experts at an awareness seminar said on Tuesday that diabetes can be prevented by following a healthy and active lifestyle. The event was organised by Jinnah-Allama Iqbal Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (JAIDE) in collaboration with Novo Nordisk, here at Allama Iqbal Medical College.
The Danish Ambassador, dignitaries, subject specialists, medical practitioners and a large number of students attended the seminar. An awareness walk was also held on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Head Department of Endocrinology, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Professor Dr Khurshid Khan said, "The prevalence of diabetes in the country is increasing every day and now is the right time to take action. It is important to create awareness about the prevention and management of diabetes to secure our younger generation from this pandemic."
The Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, HE Rolf Holmboe commended the efforts of Novo Nordisk and JAIDE for engaging so strongly in raising awareness to prevent diabetes in Pakistan and offered all-out support for the cause. Expressing his views on the occasion, General Manager Novo Nordisk Pakistan, Rashed Rafique said, "Novo Nordisk has always been at forefront to create awareness about diabetes and how it can be prevented. Under our commitment to Changing Diabetes in Pakistan, we now have Wasim Akram on board as our Brand Ambassador to convey this message to the public that diabetes is manageable. There can be no better inspiration than him."
