Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah while presiding over a high level meeting in connection with the central induction policy for PG doctors has said that after the completion of development projects and extension plans of the teaching hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions, approximately two thousand beds have been included in the system and these beds of the teaching hospitals should be utilized for teaching and training of postgraduate (PG) doctors.
Besides, Special Secretary Health Dr Sajid Chohan, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Qazi Saeed, VC FJMU Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Prof Mehmood Ayaz, Principal PGMI/LGH Prof Ghaus-un-Nabi Tayyab, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College/Jinnah Hospital Prof Rashid Zia, Prof Syed Muhammad Awais, Prof Amir Zaman Khan, Prof Ibrar Ashraf, Dean Children Hospital Prof Masood Sadiq, Additional Secretary Development Shahid Rehman, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Salman Shahid, Director PITB Badar and other officers of the department attended the meeting.
Najam Ahmed Shah directed the officers that detail of additional beds in the teaching hospitals and other data should immediately be gathered from the hospitals and according to the enhanced beds extra seats in different specialties for PG trainee doctors be created according to the bed ratio.
He further said that PG doctors would be paid and no doctor will be left without getting stipend. He directed that the performance of medical officers/women medical officers recruited on ad hoc basis should be strictly monitored on monthly basis. On this occasion, principals of some medical colleges proposed that new specialties/super specialties and basic medical science submit should be included in the PG ship.
