Basis bids for soyabeans shipped by barge to the US Gulf Coast were largely flat on Friday, in light-volume trading as many dealers were away following the US Thanksgiving Day holiday on Thursday, traders said. Weekly US soyabean export sales of 903,600 tonnes, combined old- and new-crop, were below expectations for 1 million to 1.5 million tonnes, US Department of Agriculture data showed.
China's global soya imports in October totalled 5.9 million tonnes, down from 8.1 million in September. US CIF soyabean barges loaded this month were lightly bid at 20 cents over Chicago Board of Trade January futures, up 1 cent from late on Thursday. December soyabean shipments from the Gulf were offered at 47 cents over futures.
Spot CIF corn barges were bid unchanged at 39 cents a bushel over CBOT December futures and December corn shipments from the Gulf were offered steady at 56 cents over futures. November CIF hard red winter wheat bids were steady at 225 cents over the K.C. December contract for 12 percent protein grain. November soft red winter wheat barges were nominally flat at 55 cents over CBOT December futures and December export premiums were steady at 75 cents over futures.
