Four political parties terming the Election Bill 2017, which was yet to pass in Upper House, contradictory to constitution, have challenged it in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday. Four registered political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Safdar, Sadai Pakistan Party, Pakistan Democratic Front, and Democratic Party of Pakistan have challenged the electoral bill 2017 in IHC through their counsel Hafiz Muhammad Suffyan and Chaudhary Muhammad Hamid while named the secretary law and election commission as parties.
The request contained that the amendment in election bill was the contradictory with the clause article 17 of the constitution; therefore the constitutional election bill 2017 became illegal. The petitioner requested the court that the amendment 202 of the bill will be termed null and void.
On the other hand, the deadline of Dec 2 of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to 352 political parties for submission of Rs 200,000 enlist fee and CNIC copies of two thousands workers just two days away but no party come up to ECP. Earlier, on Nov 24, the ECP's Final notice warned that parties should submit their details till Dec 2, 2017 and the parties who failed to follow the instruction will be de-listed after issuing of show cause notice.
