The US gives great importance to its relations with Pakistan and cooperation with the Punjab government in various sectors will be further expanded, US Consul General Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, said. During a meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here on Thursday, Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy discussed matters of mutual interest including promotion of Pak-US relations and cooperation in various sectors.
The US Consul General appreciated the performance of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif towards the welfare of the people and added that practical steps have been taken for public welfare in the Punjab. Shahbaz Sharif said on the occasion that Pakistan is a peaceful country which has set a new example in the comity of nations by rendering immortal sacrifices in the war against terrorism. Due to the great sacrifices of the Pakistani nation, the peace has been firmly restored in the country, he added.
He said that terrorism and extremism have become international issues which require collective efforts of the nations of the world in an organized manner. Moreover, Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Maj. Gen. Musarrat Nawaz Malik called on Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday. During the meeting, the commitment to continue the effective steps for the elimination of narcotics in an organized manner was reiterated.
Talking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that elements involved in the evil trade of drugs are killers of the humanity and added that Anti-Narcotics Force is playing an effective role for the elimination of narcotics. He said that more speedy steps have to be taken to curb this menace and added that we all have to struggle collectively for the establishment of a drug-free society.
