The Center for Emergency & Medical Services (CEMS) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Character Building Society UVAS and Foundation for Young Researchers in support of National Accountability Bureau & Anti-Narcotics Force organised a workshop and walk on "Drug Addiction and Counseling Skills" here on Thursday.
A walk was organized to create awareness among people about the drug addiction and its adverse effects on individuals and people even families related to them and over whole society. Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Professor Dr Masood Rabbani led the walk while UVAS senior tutor Professor Dr Kamran Ashraf and a number of students and faculty members participated.
Guest speakers from public & private organizations delivered lectures on various topics. Senior vice president Dr Imran Sajjad from Foundation for Young Researchers spoke on psychology of drug addiction, chairman Phoenix Research Organization Dr Noor Zaman spoke on drug addiction treatment, liaison manager Remington Pharmaceuticals Farrukh Atta Sheikh spoke on pharmacist's role in addiction therapy and chairman Foundation for Young Researchers Dr Irfan Bashir delivered a lecture on special considerations when involving families in drug addiction treatment.
Later Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the concluding session of the workshops and distributed certificates and shields among the participants and guest speakers. The workshop focused on spreading knowledge on the effects of drugs and methods to prevent and treat patients of drug addiction and other special care that needs to be taken among drug addiction cases.
