The Karachi Port handled 156,593 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,691 tonnes of import cargo and 38,902 tonnes of export cargo including 5,531 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 117,691 tonnes comprised of 43,874 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,902 tonnes of general cargo; 10,413 tonnes of bulk cargo: 450 tonnes of clinkers; 9,963 tonnes of fertilizer and 60,502 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,902 tonnes comprised of 38,902 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,531 containers comprising of 2,895 containers import and 2,636 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,191 of 20's and 802 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,302 of 20's and 231 of 40's loaded containers while 208 of 20's and 332 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Kota Kaya and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Maliakos, MOL Emerald, ER Tianshan and Alpine Penelope carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely ER Tianshan, OOCL America, Piraeus, Hansa Neuburg, Selini and Sea Lion carrying containers, mogas and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Alpine Penelope carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday. There were two vessels Maritime Longevity and Chang Hang Ze Hai carrying coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while three vessels viz. Los Angeles Trader, Fowairet and Glovis Solomon carrying containers and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
A cargo volume of 175,193 tonnes comprising 131,268 tonnes of import cargo and 43,925 tonnes of export cargo including 2,608 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 131,268 tonnes includes 48,023 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,520 tonnes of palm oil; 33,700 tonnes of LNG; 1,845 tonnes of LPG; 2,654 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 18,658 tonnes of coal; 3,031 tonnes of chemical and 11,837 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,925 tonnes includes 6,210 tonnes of rice and 37,715 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,608 containers comprising of 623 containers import and 1,985 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely CV APL Charleston carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely MV JS Green Star, MT Khor Gas and MT Lion-M carrying chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, MV Marvel, MV Trade Will, MV Medi Chiba, MV Kiran Caribbean, MV JS Green Star, MT Khor Gas, MT Al-Safiya, MT Lion-M and Chemroad Orsis currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV Mehun, MV Thunder Bird, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV African Arrow, MV Satumus, MV Kosman, MV YM Miranda, MV Chemroad Sea, MT Quetta, MT United Banner, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Chemroad Hope and MT Fortune Era carrying containers, project cargo, canola seeds, coal, clinker, steel coil, chemical, phosphoric acid, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Mehun, MV Chemroad Sea and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers, phosphoric acid and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were six ships namely CV MSC Albany, CV MSC Al-Geciras, MV Al-Aster, MT Al-Jassasiya, MT Bahra and MT Chemroad Haya carrying containers, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There are four ships namely CV Prosper, CV San Francisco, CV Hansa America and MT Symphonic Breeze carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely CV Virgo and CV Navios Verano carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
