Basis bids for wheat delivered on the cash market were steady to firm on Friday, dealers said. Farmer sales remained slow, with cash prices too low to entice growers to pull wheat from storage bins, a dealer in Oklahoma said.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City firmed for wheat with ordinary to 12.8 percent protein. Premiums for wheat with protein from 13 to 14 percent were unchanged. Some dealers rolled their basis bids to the K.C. March hard red winter wheat futures contract from the December contract, which expires on December 14. K.C. December HRW wheat futures were up 6 cents at $4.20-1/2 a bushel at 12:49 pm CST (1849 GMT) K.C. March wheat was 5-3/4 cents higher at $4.37-1/4.
