Efforts are being made to secure release of a special child detained in an Indian Observation Home and repatriate him back to the country, said Pakistan's High Commission in New Delhi. In a statement, the spokesperson said that a special child, namely Hasnain son of Javed, is being detained in Observation Home, Faridkot, India.
"The Pakistan High Commission is also in contact with the relevant Indian authorities and all efforts are being made for the completion of the procedural requirements and earliest possible repatriation of the child and his reunion with the family," he said. He said that Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi is also in constant contact with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all other relevant agencies in Pakistan for completion of procedural requirements to authenticate the national status of the child in coordination with his family.
High Commission's Counsellor Fozia Manzoor met the child on November 21, 2017 during the consular access visit to Amritsar. During this interaction, the spokesperson said that the child communicated in sign language that he is from Pakistan, adding that the child recognized Pakistani currency and picture of Quaid-e-Azam immediately. He said that Hasnain also drew Pakistani flag on his house and was able to write a few words in Urdu but did not recognize Hindi script.
