Chairman Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has strongly condemned the US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and said that it will have a negative impact on the peace and stability in the region for decades to come. He was addressing a public meeting at Bhana Manri, Peshawar City. On this occasion prominent political figure of Peshawar Alhaj Umar Daraz Khan announced to join QWP with family members and scores of supporters.
Aftab Sherpao demanded the US government to immediately take back the decision as it has created upheaval in the entire Muslim world and the act is against the Muslims' sentiments. He termed the US move as the sheer violation of International Law and United Nations Security resolution and the violation of the global consensus on the Palestine conflict. He said that this will increase the anti-American blowback.
He praised the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's proposal for calling the summit of OIC on the 13th of this month and asked that Pakistan should also condemn the move with a great extent to immediately mobilize OIC into taking concrete diplomatic steps against the US decision.
Sherpao also demanded immediate merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and rejecting any other plan for the region devised by the federal government. He said the people of FATA, despite being the citizens of Pakistan had been deprived of the basic rights. He said that if all the stakeholders and political parties are in favour of the merger then what the encumbrance in it is.
He accused the federal government for not taking durable and timely steps on the issue by delaying the process of FATA merger. Sherpao lamented that the provincial led government had miserably failed to overcome the problem but added more troubles into their lives by starting untimely and unwisely developmental project after wasting the four and half years in useless affairs.
He said the provincial government and its leadership had proved their incompetency in a large extent. He said that the Bus Rapid Project (BRT) was an election campaign that had miserably suffered people of KP by mentally by every day traffic blockage. He said that the delayed developmental work was nothing more than an election campaign. It is PTI incompetent provincial led government that had plunged the masses into the crises and on the name of reforms they had destroyed the province.
