National Accountability Bureau Tuesday appointed former Justice Shah Khawar as NAB special prosecutor general. Khawar has already served as deputy attorney general and assistant advocate general, and is appointed as prosecutor general NAB on immediate basis, according to a statement issued by the NAB. The NAB was facing difficulty in pursuing of high-profile cases in the Supreme Court and accountability courts due to the absence of a prosecutor general.
Khawar will be representing the bureau in all the important cases, including the Hudaibiya Paper Mills reference case in the apex court. The post had fallen vacant after the three-year tenure of former Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar ended in November last.
