The proceedings of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday adjourned for third consecutive day due to lack of quorum depicting the lacklustre attitude of the legislators, particularly treasury benches. Since the beginning of the current session of the assembly, the members are avoiding to attend as officials of government machinery are also not taking the proceedings of the house seriously.
Three days back opposition had raised the issue of the lacklustre response of the government machinery in the assembly. The proceeding of KP Assembly also started with the delay of 25 minutes and despite the order of Deputy Speaker Mehr Taj Roghani to ring the bells, majority of members failed to entered the house and as a result the session was adjourned.
Deputy Speaker Mehr Taj who was presiding the proceeding left with no other option other than to adjourn the proceeding when Nighat Aurakzai of Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) pointed out lack of quorum immediately after recitation. After the proceeding while talking to media Parliamentary leader of PML-N, Sardar Aurengzed Nalota said that it is most unfortunate that ministers did not attend the proceeding to reply the queries of opposition members. He said that ministers did not found confidence in themselves to face the questions and call attention notices of opposition.
