The Karachi Port handled 112,288 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,612 tonnes of import cargo and 12,676 tonnes of export cargo including 4,843 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 99,612 tonnes comprised of 33,299 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,318 tonnes of general cargo; 42,798 tonnes of bulk cargo: 20,000 tonnes of coal; 8,676 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 14,122 tonnes of fertilizer and 22,197 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 12,676 tonnes comprised of 11,280 tonnes of containerised cargo; 256 tonnes of general cargo and 1,140 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,843 containers comprising of 2,640 containers import and 2,203 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 725 of 20's and 902 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 211 of 20's and 272 of 40's loaded containers while 378 of 20's and 535 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Kota Lahir, MT Lahore, Stolt Courage and BW Amazon carrying containers, oil Tankers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. OOCL California, UACC Ibn Al Haitham, Densa Alligator and Bow Riyad carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Northern Dependant and Bow Tiyad carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while three ships namely Kota Karim, Xing Rong Hai and Da Ji carrying containers, DAP and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were five vessels Hyundai Brave, BW Lithium, FSL London, Bao Success and Ocean Hero carrying containers, oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz. MOL Endowment, Hansa Neuburg, Cali, Ginga Puma, Sbi Lyra, Liberty Pride and Yangtze Ambition carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
A cargo volume of 92,679 tonnes comprising 47,319 tonnes of import cargo and 45,360 tonnes of export cargo including 2,342 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 47,319 tonnes includes 10,600 tonnes of furnace oil; 26,264 tonnes of palm oil; 1,628 tonnes of LPG; 5,005 tonnes of clinker and 3,822 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,360 tonnes includes 45,360 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,342 containers comprising of 1,071 containers import and 1,049 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV Express Makalu carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MT Tomson Gas carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, canola seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely MV Zi Jing Song, MV Adasera, MV Aptal Ots, MV Lily, MV GH Rough Habit, MT Black Pearl, MT Maria-III, MT Al Jassa, MT Al Jassasiya, MT Quetta and MT Ginga Kite carrying general cargo, condenset, canola, coal, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. MV Lily and MT Al Jassasiya carrying coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were eleven ships namely CV APL Austria, CV Prosper, CV Maersk Hartford, CV GH Chinook, CV MSC Austria, CV MSC Joanna, CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Tucape, MV Lila, MT Mnaoma and MT Adofora carrying containers, coal, LNG and crude oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
