The accountability court hearing former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon's Rs 5.75 billion corruption case expressed anger over the absence of suspects on Thursday. According to details, PPP leader and former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon as well as other suspects in the Information Ministry corruption case reference presented themselves before the accountability court for its hearing.
Expressing anger at the absence of two suspects in the case, the bench remarked that some persons were trying to use undue influence to exert pressure on the court. "Don't try to use undue influence on the court. We conduct a fair trial over here," remarked the bench.
"If you do not have faith in us then file a reference." The court further said that unfortunately there were two separate laws in the country - one for the poor and another for the elite. "Eight to ten influential people are lying in hospitals while countless poor are languishing in jails," remarked the bench. "How many more persons do we send to hospitals?" The court suspended proceedings till December 23, stating that Sharjeel Memon would be indicted in the next hearing at any cost.
