The 'Samba Bank Lahore Open Polo Championship 2017' will stroll into action here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Tuesday (today) with top national and international polo players featuring in this eight-goal event. Top nine teams have been taking part in this two-week championship, which are divided into two pools. Pool-A has Diamond Paints, Allied Bank, Barry's, Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints and Future Developers/Rijas while Pool-B is comprised of Newage, Army, Guard Group and Black Horse Paints.
The inaugural match of the event will take place between Diamond Paints and Barry's at 2:00 pm while the second match of the day will be contested between Habib Metro Lions/Master Paints and Future Developers/Rijas at 3:00 pm. The subsidiary and main finals will be played on December 31. Lahore Polo Club executive committee member Umer Sadik said that the polo season has reached at its peak with the start of high-goal events, the top national and international players have started featuring in these events, which will make the tournaments more exciting and enthralling.
"I hope the top players' presence will make this championship very interesting and challenging and provide the spectators ample opportunities to enjoy the each and every match and especially the finals. I am also grateful to Samba Bank for sponsoring this event and I hope more sponsors will come forward to help promote this beautiful game," he said.
