Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri has called an all parties conference on December 28, at which they would announce their future course of action to get justice for the 2014 Model Town massacre. Speaking at a joint press conference with Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed, here on Thursday Qadri said that they are inviting all major political and religious parties, to hold consultation with them. "The real case is that of the Model Town incident, all others would be opened on their time," he said.
It may be added that all major opposition parties including PPP, PTI, PML-Q, JI, various factions of JUP, and PSP have already committed their support to Qadri's cause and called upon Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to step down from their positions in the light of the Model Town judicial inquiry report. The incident on June 17, 2014, had claimed lives of at least 14 people and left over 100 others injured during an 'anti-encroachment operation' by Punjab Police outside Idara Minhajul Quran in Lahore's Model Town.
Qadri claimed that 809 policemen of 45 police stations of Lahore including 204 sharp shooters and snipers took part in the so called anti-encroachment operation. Qadri has already announced launching a movement, 'Tehreek-e-Qisas', in response to 'Tehreek-e-Adl' announced by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and given a deadline to Shehbaz and Rana Sanaullah to resign by 31st December.
