Nawaz, Maryam official protocol: LHC gives last chance to centre, Punjab government for replies
The Lahore High Court gave last chance to federal and Punjab governments for their replies in a petition against Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for using official protocol. On Thursday, the court was informed that both the respondent governments had failed to submit their replies.
The petitioner Andleeb Abbas of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) through her counsel said that Supreme Court of Pakistan had disqualified Nawaz Sharif on corruption charges. He said that Nawaz Sharif had been using Punjab House and 40 vehicles in addition to official protocol.
He said that a hefty amount of Rs 2.18 million had been spent from public money on protocol provided to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam. But Nawaz Sharif and her daughter Maryam Nawaz enjoy state protocol. He said that convicted Nawaz Sharif and her daughter could not use state protocol.
He therefore prayed the court to issue a direction to the government authorities to withdraw the official protocol from Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam. He also prayed that Nawaz Sharif should also be restrained from holding meetings in the Punjab House.
