Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday said that bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Japan needs to be enhanced. He said this while talking to Japanese ambassador Takashi Kurai, here today. During the meeting, different matters of mutual interest, including promotion of bilateral relations and expansion of cooperation came under discussion.
Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai observed that Pakistan-Japan relations are needed to be transformed into economic cooperation and they are desirous of further promoting relations with Pakistan. The economic cooperation between Pakistan and Japan will be further enhanced, he added.
Talking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that cordial relations exist between Pakistan and Japan and there is a need to adopt effective steps for further promoting trade and economic relations. He added that energy crisis has been overcome by the incumbent government and Japanese cooperation with the Punjab government for improving education, healthcare and civic amenities is praiseworthy.
"There is a great potential of investment in different sectors in the province of Punjab including education, health and energy fields," he said. He said that most conducive atmosphere has been developed for investment and due to the policy of the government to maintain transparency at every level, a large number of foreign investors are taking interest in investment here and Japan can also take full benefit of different opportunities of investment.
Moreover, Shahbaz expressed a deep sense of grief over the loss of precious human lives in a traffic accident on motorway near Khanewal and extended sympathies to heirs of the persons died in this accident.
He has directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured. Shahbaz Sharif has also expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the death of sister of Senator Professor Sajid Mir, Amir Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith.
