Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader on Monday said they are waging a just struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law. "Time has come to make joint efforts for the resolution of issues faced by the country," he said while talking to media after meeting with the PML-N President Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence.
During the meeting, the country's overall political situation, challenges faced to the party and other issues of national importance were discussed, the sources said, adding: "The upcoming APC of PAT and strategy of the PML-N to counter opposition's designs were discussed."
The sources claim that the PML-N President exhorted upon the PML-N activists to forge unity in their ranks and concentrate on 2018 general elections. Talking to media, Saad Rafique said that disputes will not settle Pakistan's issues and urged political opponents to stop resorting to those acts, which harm the country. He said, "Today, there are threats to the national economy, which is facing reverse circle."
He said that the PML-N respect the elders as it is a must for the progress, but elders should also show similar gesture. "We respect the judiciary, we had waged struggle for restoration of judiciary despite threats to the PML-N leadership," he said. Saad further said the sit-in politics will not allow Pakistan to progress. He said Nawaz Sharif was elected three-time by the people but the decision was mocked every time as he was not allowed to complete his term.
He called for promoting national agenda and to let the democracy flourish which is a key to resolution of problems posed to the country. He further said that the votes of the common man, 'not decisions made behind closed doors', will form the new parliament.
