People's Youth Organization (PYO) Fata, a students' body affiliated with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) demanded of the government to announce package for temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) of various Agencies of Federally Administered Tribal Areas, already announced for militancy-affected people of Malakand division.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, PYO President Gul Bahadar said that the government should take pragmatic measures for return of all TDPs in dignified manner and their rehabilitation in their respective Agencies of Fata.
He said the relief package announced by federal government was insufficient to rehabilitate the militancy-affected people of the tribal region. He criticised the Fata elected representatives for their failure to raise voice for TDPs.
PYO Fata chief said it was unfair to not provide same package to TDPs, like announced by the former PPP-led federal government for militancy-hit people of Malakand division. He said Fata had adversely affected by the prolonged war against terrorism.
He added that no concrete steps were taken to mitigate the suffering of TDPs, residing in settled parts of the province. He held the federal government responsible over the prevailing situation of Fata. He said that the Fata had become battle field by group of people for their vested interest. He said the specified lobby was creating hurdles in mainstreaming of tribal region. He said his organisation would soon launch movement for Fata people rights.
Flanked by PPP Fata general secretary, Jangrais Mohmand, information secretary, Malik Ghulam, Anwar Zeb, tribal leader from North Waziristan Agency and PYO students' activists, Bahadar said tribesmen had rendered matchless sacrifices for their motherland, despite they are deprived from all kind of fundamental rights, which was sheer injustice with them.
He said the abolishment of Frontier Crime Regulation Act was inevitable to give constitutional and other basic right to people of tribal region. He criticised the some corrupt leaders as well as federal government were creating hurdles in mainstreaming and merger of Fata with KP.
Earlier, PPP Fata secretary, Jangrais Mohmand said that PPP is the only political party which had raised voice for the rights of the tribal people. On the occasion, PYO Fata newly-elected cabinet was also announced. According to which, PYO president Gul Bahadar, General Secretary Syed Iftikhar Sherazi, Senior vice president Hamayun Wazir, Information Secretary Sifaat Ghayur Deputy Secretary General Maqsood Shah, press secretary Khalilullah, Irfan Ali, Sami Mohammad, Finance secretary Burhan Zeb.
