Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and Abid Akhtar Hassan were elected as president and general secretary, respectively, of Abbasin Column Writers Association (ACWA) for the year 2018-19. The elections were held during the annual general body meeting of the association. Those others elected included: Mushtaq Shabab as patron-in-chief, Alamgir Afridi as vice patron-in-chief, Sabih Ahmad as senior vice president, Saleem Aafaqi, Roshan Khattak and Rani Bano were elected as vice presidents while Arshad Dar, Wasim Shahid, Waqar Ahmad Awan and Fazal Shah Mohmand were elected as joint secretary, finance secretary, media secretary and legal adviser, respectively.
The general body meeting also constituted a managing committee comprising of Dr Salahuddin Ahmad, Hameed Khattak, Zubaida Zobi, Khan Said Gulzar, Saima Mehboob, Manawar Shah Manawar and Ghayyur Jan. Addressing the meeting, the newly-elected president Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, thanked all members for reposing confidence in him and vowed to continue struggle for the national development and particularly peace in the country.
