The Karachi Port handled 167,735 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,331 tonnes of import cargo and 49,404 tonnes of export cargo including 9,500 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 118,331 tonnes comprised of 73,291 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,140 tonnes of general cargo; 24,900 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,100 tonnes of bitumen coal, 9,800 tonnes of coke and 19,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,404 tonnes comprised of 39,504 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,500 containers comprising of 5,218 containers import and 4,282 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,672 of 20's and 1,695 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and 70 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 998 of 20's and 449 of 40's loaded containers while 606 of 20's and 890 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MOL Eminence, Sima Genesis, Hansa Offenburg, Common Spirit, Glovis Safety and Western Santos carrying containers, steel, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. MOL Eminence, Wide India, GSL Tianjin, Hansa Offenburg, Nan Lin Wan, MT Quetta and Osprey-1 carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Maliakos and YM Orchid carrying containers carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Maliakos, MOL Eminence and YM Orchid carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were seven vessels viz. Zante, Ete-N, Al-Safa, MV Chemroad Quest, MT Al-Soor-II, Al Mahboobah and Friendly Island carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and talcum powder respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz. OOCL Busan, Libra, Amazon Guardian, and Malhari carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 141,341 tonnes comprising 110,121 tonnes of import cargo and 31,220 tonnes of export cargo including 3,408 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 110,121 tonnes includes 28,500 tonnes of diesel oil, 9,587 tonnes of palm oil; 20,000 tonnes of coal; 1,531 tonnes of bitumen; 8,855 tonnes of canola seeds; 553 tonnes of LPG and 41,648 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,220 tonnes includes; 8,116 tonnes of rice and 23,104 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,408 containers comprising of 2,192 containers import and 1,216 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV Maipo and MT Horizon carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MV Reem-3 and MT Al-Soor-II carrying bitumen and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Alexandra, CV Maipo, MV Era-S, MV Reem-3, MV Fareast Honesty, MV Kirri Billi, MT Al-Jassasiya, MT White Purl, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, bitumen, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV North Star Incictus, MV Alios Nicolas, MV Pan Oceanic, MV Kong Qeu Song, MT Gas Amazon, MT Maria-III, MT Brizo and MT UACC Muharraq carrying containers, soyabean, rice, project cargo, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Uni Florida, CV GSL Tianjin, MT Battersea Park and MT UACC Muharraq carrying containers, phosphoric acid and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were seven ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Prosper, MV Industrial Century, MV Battersea Park, MV Great-61, MT Ondo and MT Bahra carrying containers, project cargo, phosphoric acid, steel, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV Navios Verano and CV GSL Tianjin carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
