Opposition MPAs in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday denounced the rape and murder of a seven-year old girl in the Punjab city of Kasur-with the PPP's Shamim Mumtaz demanding that the government of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif provide greater protection to vulnerable children; Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, a member of the PML-F the Muslim League's anti-Nawaz Sharif splinter faction, shouted "May the curse hit the perpetrators of innocent Zainab." After the assembly adjourned for a day, leader of the opposition Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan of the MQM acknowledged that the "brutality" was a challenge to the Punjab chief minister. He also said that peaceful protests are citizens' right.
