The Karachi Port handled 162,264 tonnes of cargo comprising 126,138 tonnes of import cargo and 36,126 tonnes of export cargo including 8,111 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 126,138 tonnes comprised of 53,735 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,981 tonnes of general cargo; 18,613 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,500 tonnes of coal, 3,113 tonnes of DAP and 31,809 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,126 tonnes comprised of 35,526 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo and 400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,111 containers comprising of 4,039 containers import and 4,072 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 923 of 20's and 1,437 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 121 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,013 of 20's and 342 of 40's loaded containers while 835 of 20's and 770 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Hyundai Global, Piraeus, Kota Karim, Phoenix, Amazon Guardian, Bow Mekka and Du Juan Song carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Maersk Kerry, Al Safa, MT Shalamar and Maritime Longevity carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely MSC Kerry, Global Brave, Senere Juniper, Al Mahboobah and Kong Que Song carrying containers, coal, steel, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.
There were five vessels viz. Hansa Neuburg, MOL Earnet, Northern Dependant, Maritime Equator and Hamburg Star carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while nine vessels viz. CMA CGM Virginia, Northern Dedication, Los Angeles Trader, Mohar, Cevde-A, Ocean Pearll, Aquila, East Bangkok and Kiran Adriatic carrying containers cement, chemical, coal and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
A cargo volume of 161,217 tonnes comprising 124,633 tonnes of import cargo and 36,584 tonnes of export cargo including 2,305 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 124,633 tonnes includes 41,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,822 tonnes of LPG; 56,975 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,200 tonnes of palm oil; 8,295 tonnes of soyabean and 8,341 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,584 tonnes includes 1,130 tonnes of rice and 35,454 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,305 containers comprising of 439 containers import and 1,866 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely CV CSAV Tyndall carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely MT Methane Nile Eagle, MT Niaz Gas, MT BW Danube and MT Gao Cheng-2 carrying LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Maersk Columbus, MV Pan Ocean, MV Dakang, MV Agios Nicolas, MT Methane Nile Eagle, MT Niaz Gas, MT BW Danube and MT Gao Cheng-2 were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo, soyabean, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV Mataquito, MV Pacific Action, MV Engiadina, MT Gas Amazoin, Maria-III, MT Bahra and MT Chemroad Nova carrying containers, project cargo, steel coil, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessel viz. CV Mataquito and MT Chemroad Nova carrying containers and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were eight ships namely CV APL Norway, MV Morning Star, MV Forest Park, MV Great-61, MV Nautical Loredona, MT Arwa Spirit, MT Maran Gas Spartra and MT Pacific A Dorodchi carrying containers, rice, coal, chemical, steel, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV Torrente, CV GH Chnoo and CV Prosper carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
