Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday decided to actively pursue the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against Sharif family in the Supreme Court whether or not National Accountability Bureau (NAB) follows it in the court. The decision was taken in PTI core committee meeting chaired by party chairman Imran Khan in which the party also decided to actively take part in the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) anti-government drive to be launched on January 17.
According to a statement issued by a spokesperson for the party, the meeting discussed the overall prevailing political situation of the country and directed the regional presidents of the party to take every preparation for full participation of the party in the PAT's protest drive.
"The money-laundering of billions of rupees cannot be condoned," the statement stated, adding the participants vowed to take up the case in the Supreme Court in the greater public interest. "The plundered public money would be brought back to the country at any cost," the meeting vowed. It further stated that all those who are involved in the 'criminal acts' of Nawaz Sharif would be brought to the justice.
The committee also discussed the Fata reforms and the issue of merger of the tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the meeting termed the passage of the bill for extension of the jurisdiction of Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to tribal areas 'insufficient.'
It also noted that the Fata reforms should be implemented at once instead of its gradual implementation. It also directed the party's presidents in the Fata chapter to make every preparation for merger of the Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "The party reserves the right to resist if the government continues to deny rights of the people of Fata", it vowed.
