Irfan Siddiqui, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage, inaugurated the "Ibn Khaldun Corner" at NBF Head Office Islamabad on Thursday. The Ibn Khaldun Corner has been established in the name of great Historian, Philosopher and Founder of Sociology of Tunisia with the combine efforts of NBF and Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies and also with close collaboration of Embassy of Republic of Tunisia in Pakistan.
Irfan Siddiqui, as a chief guest addressed the audience at this auspicious occasion. He said that the establishment of Ibn Khaldun Corner would strengthen the ties of two brotherly countries in the fields of literature and culture. "The establishment of Ibn Khaldun Corner in NBF Islamabad in the name of eminent scholar of Tunisia, it would definitely promote the literary activity, Islamic culture and its civilization in Pakistan", he said. He appreciated the efforts of NBF and Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in the way of book culture promotion and literary activities in the country. Adil Al-Arabi, Ambassador of Republic of Tunisia in Pakistan as a Guest of Honour expressed his views and said that we are delighted to take part in literary activities in Muslim brotherly and friendly country like Pakistan. He said that we have common cultural values, religion and history. He further said that the visitors in NBF would get opportunity to peep into work of legend scholar of Tunisia through this Ibn Khaldun Corner. Another key speaker in the ceremony, Dr Sajid Ahmad Awan, Senior Research Fellow of National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research of Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad highlighted the literary work of Ibn Khaldun in detail. Managing Director, NBF Dr Inam-Ul Haq Javeid also delivered his speech as a host and said that NBF has set-up, "Nizami Gangavi Corner"; "Gosha-a- Hafiz Shirazi" and "Camoos Corner" by Azerbaijan, Iran and Portugal respectively before setting up this Ibn Khaldun Corner here.-PR
