The aggrieved family of Naqeebullah Mehsud, who was gunned down in a 'fake' encounter on January 13, 2018, has reached Karachi to seek justice in the case of what they say 'extra judicial murder.' People from Mehsud tribe set up a stall to welcome them and also held a condolence jirga in Sohrab Goth to express solidarity with Naqeebullah's family that originally hail from North Waziristan agency ((Fata).
Addressing the jirga - a assembly of tribal elders, Khan Muhammad, the aggrieved father of Naqeebullah Mehsud urged the authorities to ensures speedy justice for what he said extrajudicial murder of his son.
"I seek nothing but justice for my slain son," he said, citing that entire country was saddened by the macabre killing of Naqeebullah. He thanked all those who raised their voices for justice. He said that Naqeebullah was a patriotic Pakistani and had wanted his little son to serve the country as an Army officer in future.
"I am thankful to entire nation for sharing sympathy and extending support to us," he said. He also appealed to the people to discourage ethnicity, provincialism and stand united in their support to downtrodden segments of the country.
Khan said he would lodge case against the Rao Anwar and his police team that were involved in the 'extra judicial murder' of his son in a 'fake' encounter. Meanwhile, the suspended SSP Rao Anwar refused to appear before the inquiry committee terming it a one-sided probe. Rao told the media that a malicious propaganda campaign was launched against him. He rebuffed the allegations that he unlawfully held people under his custody.
He said that a few days back, Sindh IGP AD Khowaja announced Rs 0.2 million reward for police officials behind a shootout at Shaarey Faisal that was later turned controversial. "Does it mean IGP Sindh was involved in the killing," he asked.
