Jinnah College for Women and Post Graduate Department, University of Peshawar took berth into the final after securing victories against their respective rivals in the ongoing Inter-College Girls Cricket Championship being played here at Jinnah College for Women ground under the aegis of Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar on Tuesday. Deputy Director Sports University of Peshawar Ms. Chaman Gul was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the matches the players of all the semi-finals were introduced to the players.
In the first semi-final Jinnah College for Women defeated Govt Girls College Nahaqi, Charsadda Road by seven wickets. Batting first Govt Girls Degree College Nahaqi made a 111 runs target for the loss of seven wickets after playing the allotted 20 overs. For Govt Girls Degree College Roma was the top scorer with her super knock of 35 runs including three boundaries and one six, Reema made another quick-fire 27 runs with four boundaries and Saima made 29 runs with three boundaries and one six.
In reply to 111 runs target, Jinnah College for Women chased the target for the loss of three wickets with a graceful knock of Uroosa. Uroosa smashed an elegant knock of 46 runs including three towering sixes and two boundaries, Gul Makai made another vital 31 runs with three boundaries and Bushra Khattak scored 29 runs with four boundaries. Bushra also hit a cracking six by steering her team to victory in the 16.4 overs. For Govt Girls Degree College Nahaqi Roma and Reema claimed one wicket each. In the second match Aleena was the pick of the pack by guiding her team to stumping victory. The opener of the Post Graduate Department University of Peshawar smashed an elegant knock of 53 runs. It was the first 50 of the tournament in which she smashed five boundaries and two sixes by helping her team to setup 103 runs target.
Ambareen made another cracking 35 runs with four boundaries and one six. In reply, Govt Girls College Hayatabad bowled out for 86 with Zainab made a dashing knock of 29 runs with four boundaries and one six, Rabia scored 27 runs with three boundaries and one six and Hasina Khan smashed 25 runs with runs with four boundaries and two sixes. Maha claimed three wickets each and Aleena and Ambareen took two wickets each. Thus Post Graduate Department won the match by 17 runs.
