The Karachi Port handled 116,143 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,667 tonnes of import cargo and 29,476 tonnes of export cargo including 3,352 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 86,667 tonnes comprised of 22,677 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,041 tonnes of general cargo; 24,150 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 20,000 tonnes of coal; 4,150 tonnes of canola and 21,799 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,476 tonnes comprised of 19,476 tonnes of containerised cargo and 10,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,352 containers comprising of 1,835 containers import and 1,517 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 401 of 20's and 560 of 40's loaded while 260 of 20's and 27 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 529 of 20's and 176 of 40's loaded containers while 408 of 20's and 114 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Kota Kaya, Cora, SC Brilliant, Fleur Australe, Chemroad Fuji, Tamara and Pelagica carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Cali, UAFL Zanzibar, Adventurous, MT Shalamar and Pelagica carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Cali and Hansa Neuburg carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Adventurous carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Fonty Lady and Global Hero carrying mogas and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz. Nord Spring, Sima Giselle, CMA CGM Georgia, APL Austria, Hankuk Chemi, Chem Singapore, Omicron Way and Mercs Mahaweli carrying containers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 105,225 tonnes comprising 46,287 tonnes of import cargo and 58,938 tonnes of export cargo including 3,361 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. As many as 3,361 containers comprising of 259 containers import and 3,102 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely CV CMA CGM Nerval carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV APL Charleston and MT Fraiha carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Bulk Electra, MT Umm Addalkh and MT Fraiha were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely MV Beks Cenk and MT Horizon carrying cement and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were three vessels viz. MV Hermain-S, MT Golar Kelvin and MT Horizon carrying steel coil, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There are four ships namely CV Hansa America, CV San Francisco, CV Prosper and MV Santy carrying containers and rice respectively due to arrive on Friday.
