The Karachi Port handled 135,255 tonnes of cargo comprising 109,159 tonnes of import cargo and 26,096 tonnes of export cargo including 8,310 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 109,159 tonnes comprised of 61,607 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,230 tonnes of general cargo; 5,668 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 36,654 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,096 tonnes comprised of 19,010 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,310 containers comprising of 4,914 containers import and 3,396 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 957 of 20's and 1,877 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 100 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 377 of 20's and 342 of 40's loaded containers while 325 of 20's and 1,005 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were thirteen ships namely Nord Spring, Sima Giselle, Talassa, Prosper, Virgo, Corona, Oriental Freesia, Fyla, Santa Ursula, Omicron Way, Silvia Ambition, Liberty Promise and Mercs Mahaweli carrying containers, oil tankers, canola, coal, steel, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. APL Austria, Talassa, Virgo, Wan Hai-503, Prosper, Cosco New York, Newark, Hamburg Star, Oriental Freesia, CSC Risingsun, MT Lahore, Silkroad-03 and Liberty Promise carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and vehicle respectively currently at the berths. There was one ships namely Newark carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were eight vessels viz. Kota Kamil, Hamburg Bay, CMA CGM Tosca, MT Quetta, Bahra, STI Executive, Gennaro Ievoli and Hong Fa Shang Hai carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three vessels viz. Mid Nature, Mohar and Porthos carrying oil tanker, cement and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A cargo volume of 129,935 tonnes comprising 97,882 tonnes of import cargo and 32,053 tonnes of export cargo including 2,048 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
As many as 2,048 containers comprising of 361 containers import and 1,687 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There was one ship namely CV APL Hawaii carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV APL Hawaii, CV Jack London, MV Santy, MV Loch Crinan, MT Navios Coral, MT Umm Addalkh, MT Corona and MT Al-Sahila were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as three ships namely MV E-Tracer, MT Great-61 and MT Lion-M carrying coal and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Susanna, CV MSC Chicago, CV Newark and MT Great-61 carrying containers and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There were two ships namely CV Al-Geciras and CV MSC Chicago carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
