Chief Executive Officer PESCO, Engineer Shabir Ahmad has directed the technical staff to adopt all precautionary measures to avoid electrocution and electric shocks for their own safety. He directed them to ensure the safety measures with letter and spirit. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the CEO directed line staff to not start work without PTW (Permit to work).
Before starting work, should ensure that power supply is shutdown. Poles on both the sides must be properly earthen for the safety of technical staff working on line/pole and avoid standing on transformer or any other electrical instrument while working. Similarly, he also urged the Pesco staff to be careful from the streetlights and neutral cables and fastening safety belt while working on line and always wearing an helmet on head and rubber gloves on hands.
He has also advised the staff for using thread stitched shoes and avoiding nail fixed shoes while working on line. Tight fixing of ladder with the pole and keep working instruments in proper condition, use of tight cotton clothes and avoiding loose and silky clothes.
He further said that the safety day should be observed regularly so that employees are educated about their safety. He stressed that by implementing and adopting these precautionary measures including safety rules and regulations, fatal accidents can be avoided and precious lives of employees could be secured.
