The Karachi Port handled 167,122 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,859 tonnes of import cargo and 70,263 tonnes of export cargo including 8,650 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 96,859 tonnes comprised of 64,849 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,802 tonnes of general cargo; 9,317 tonnes of fertilizer and 16,891 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 70,263 tonnes comprised of 52,408 tonnes of containerised cargo; 700 tonnes of general cargo; 2,565 tonnes of talcum powder; 6,820 tonnes of stone and 7,770 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,650 containers comprising of 4,508 containers import and 4,142 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,228 of 20's and 1,547 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 93 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,479 of 20's and 430 of 40's loaded containers while 263 of 20's and 770 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eight ships namely Talassa, Hamburg Bay, CMA CGM Tosca, MT Lahore, Hamburg Star, Bon Atlantico, Panoria and Rickmers New Orleans carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, chemical, talcum powder and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. YM Wealth, MSC Maritina, Sima Genesis, Bahra, Fotini Lady, Porthos and Hong Fa Shang Hai carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Kota Kamil, Sima Genesis and Bedford Castle carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. Ever Diamond, MOL Endowment, BW Gallium and Mid Nature carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, Nord Larkspur, MT Karachi and YM Miranda carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
A cargo volume of 129,425 tonnes comprising 111,031 tonnes of import cargo and 18,394 tonnes of export cargo including 3,708 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 111,031 tonnes includes 22,639 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,265 tonnes of palm kernel; 10,725 tonnes of soyabean; 16,680 tonnes of coal and 57,722 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,394 tonnes includes 5,664 tonnes of rice and 12,730 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,708 containers comprising of 3,038 containers import and 670 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Chicago and CV Newark carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Algeciras, CV MSC Chicago, MV Santy, MT Navios Coral, MT Great-61, MT Umm Addalkh and MT Al-Soor-II were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, palm kernel and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely CV CMA CGM Latour, MV BW Hazel, MV Beks Cenk, MV E-Tracer, MT Maria-III, MT Black Pearl, MT Lion-M, MT Glorious and MT Maersk Tocoma carrying containers, canola seeds, cement, coal, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Latour and MV E-Tracer carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday.
There were eight ships namely CV Lampanos, CV Uni Florida, CV Libra, CV Songa Calabria, CV Prosper, MT Maran Gas Spartra, MT Gaschem Antarctic and MT Brizo carrying containers, LNG, LPG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are two ships namely MV Beks Cenk and MT Wilpride carrying cement and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
