The British High Commissioner in Islamabad, Thomas Drew, called on the Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, on Thursday and discussed with him the bilateral issues and the present international situation.
The JI chief told the British diplomat that it was the moral responsibility of Britain to help solve the Kashmir issue which was the left over agenda of the division of the Indo-Pak subcontinent. He said that the British agenda of the division of the sub continent would remain incomplete till Kashmir being an area of Muslim majority was not made part of Pakistan.
Sirajul Haq pointed out that Pakistan and India had fought three wars only due to the Kashmir issue while the Kashmiris had been fighting for their right of self determination for the last seven decades. He said that India and Pakistan both are nuclear powers and a conflict between the two could be catastrophic which would immediately escalate to a world war.
The JI chief said that unfortunately, the world community was silent and indifferent on the Kashmir issue while India was busy in conspiracies against this country from Afghanistan soil with US patronage.
He said that the Indian occupation troops had killed more than two lakh Kashmiris only for demanding liberation. More than one lakh Kashmiris are languishing in jails and were being subjected to worst form of torture. Thousands of Kashmiri women had been disgraced for supporting the freedom movement. Houses and orchards of the Kashmiris were being razed, mosques and madrasahs were being demolished.
He said that despite all brutalities, Indian troops had not been able to crush the Kashmiris struggle for freedom.
JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam was also present on the occasion.
