As many as 81952 victims of different emergencies were rescued by the Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) while conducting 81454 rescue operations in last month all over the Punjab, with average response time of 07 minutes. The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 25000 road traffic accidents, 46104 medical emergencies, 1168 fire incidents, 1575 crimes, 21 drowning incidents, 28 building collapses, 20 explosions and 7538 miscellaneous operations.
As per statistics, majority of fire incidents occurred in major cities, including 284 fires in Lahore, 145 in Faisalabad, 80 in Rawalpindi, 56 in Multan, 60 in Gujranwala and 38 in Sialkot. Similarly, 6251 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 2379 in Faisalabad, 1658 in Gujranwala and 1871 in Multan and 763 in Rawalpindi.
The Director General, Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Rescue service is responding to average 750 road traffic crashes across the Punjab on daily basis which involves more than 900 persons, thus affecting average 900 families in a day.
