The chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj-ul-Haq has said that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and not a single Kashmiri has ever accepted himself as a part of India. Addressing a gathering here on Monday on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, he said that Kashmiris always consider themselves as Pakistanis which is evident from the fact they mark every Indian specific day, from Independence Day to Republic Day, as black day.
He said that since July 2016, after the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani, Indian atrocities have resulted into killing of hundreds of innocent Kashmiris and injuring over 20,000. The unprecedented inhuman use of pellet guns blinded more than 200 people, including women and young children depriving them of any chance of leading fulfilling lives, he added.
He went on to say that Pakistani flag is being unfurled all over Indian held Kashmir and the Kashmiris are burying their martyrs wrapped in the Pakistani flag to show their desire to be a part of Pakistan. He added that some countries are considering Kashmir a part of India which reflects their strong bias and inhumane mindset.
He also said that it is unfortunate that Indian embassies and foreign office are successful in projecting their false stance as truth, while the Pakistani institutions are unable to project their just stance due to their apathy towards the Kashmiris. He said that the late Qazi Husain Ahmed had done a great service to the Kashmir cause by declaring February 5 as Kashmir Solidarity Day.
JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam, JI Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah and JI Women Wing leaders also spoke on the occasion. Other speakers addressing on the occasion said that the marking of the Kashmir Solidarity Day across the Pakistan by all the political parties as well as by civil society shows that Pakistanis are united and stand behind the cause of Kashmiri people in their struggle against Indian occupation.
In another event to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day, Mishaal Malik, the wife of Kashmiri freedom fighter Yaseen Malik said that Kashmiri people want solution to the problem in line with the United Nation resolutions, also signed by India. She said the peace of the region is interlinked with the Kashmir issue and Indian intentions show that it does not want solution to the problem. "Whenever, we go to India to see Yaseen Malik, miscreants of RSS and RAW hurl threats, harass and attack us," she added.
She said that no one is safe in Kashmir as Indian forces attack classrooms, schools and houses, adding that infants and little girls are also becoming target of the forces. She said freedom movements are wars of nerves and these movements could take long time to succeed; however, Kashmir would finally be liberated.
Meanwhile Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) on Monday organized one day workshop titled 'Developing Effective Leadership Skills' on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The workshop was attended by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis, university students, and human rights defenders, etc. The event was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony.
Addressing to participants, Pakistan's former Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zamir Akram said India-Pakistan friendship is impossible as India is not even ready to accept the existence of Pakistan. Ahmad Raza Kasuri, senior advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, Sardar Khan Niazi, Chairman Pakistan Group of Publications & CEO of an Islamabad-based TV Channel, Zartasha Niazi, a development communication expert, Ahmed Qureshi, Director YFK International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum for Kashmir), Sohail Khan Kiani, a financial advisor, and others were also present on the occasion.
