Master Paints/Rizvi's, Barry's and Newage/Guard Group Tuesday won their respective matches on the opening day of the Winter Polo Cup 2018 here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground. The first encounter of the day saw Master Paints/Rizvi's outclassing Army Red by 5-11/2.
Juan Cruz Losada and Hamza Mawaz Khan were stars of the day with both scoring two goals each while Farooq Amin Sufi converted the remaining one. Mighuel Luis Duggan scored the only goal for the losing side, which had half goal handicap advantage.
Barry's beat Diamond Paints by 51/2-2 in the second match of the day. Silvestre Garrose displayed quality polo skills and slammed a hat-trick while Raja Mikael Sami scored the remaining one for the winning side, which also had one and half goal handicap advance, while Macos Araya banged in both the goals for the losing side. Juan Cruz Losada Ahmed Ali Tiwana supervised the match as field umpires.
One and half goal handicap advantage helped Newage/Guard Group defeat Army White by 41/2-4 in the third and last encounter of the day. Taimur Ali Malik struck two goals for the winning side, which had one and half goal handicap advantage, while the remaining one came from Salvador Ulloa. From the losing side, Major Omer Minhas, Brigadier Zulfiqar Ali Beg, Major Haseeb Minhas and Ignasio Negri scored one goal apiece.
