Deputy Secretary General, Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Board of Trade, Thailand, Kasemsit Pathomsak has said there are plenty of products having potential to capture share in Thai market but it needs effective marketing and promotional activities. He was speaking at a meeting with the delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by its President Malik Tahir Javaid. Section Project Manager, Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Ltd Kulkanlaya Kritnoi and, Managing Director MICAP Machineries Ltd, Mingpant Chaya also spoke on the occasion.
According to the LCCI spokesman, the Deputy Secretary General said that Pakistan was already exporting different products to Thailand including yarn and fibre, chemicals, finished oils, edible meat. He said there is immense potential to enhance trade between Pakistan and Thailand and urged the business communities of both the countries to explore more avenues for enhancing bilateral trade besides setting up of joint ventures. Pakistan has made substantial progress over the years and bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between both the countries have further strengthened, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Tahir Javaid has said the volume of trade between the two countries is much below their respective potential on various sectors of the economy and the lack of dissemination of information could be one of the biggest reasons.
He said that the import and export profiles of the two countries indicate that there is a potential of increasing Pakistan's export to Thailand, while Pakistan also has huge potential of importing goods from Thailand. He stressed the need for business-to-business contacts and one-to-one meetings to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries. Industrial parks development will be a good choice for Thai business tycoons as they will surely be supported by Pakistan government as well.
