Plantation Project: KP government presents statistics of only over 200 million plants

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has presented the record of only over 200 million trees planted during the triumphant Billion Tsunami Tree Plantation (BTTP) Project in the province. The leadership of PTI and provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are beating drums of planting over one billion trees during the afforestation project and also claiming receiving letters of appreciation from international organizations.
However, the provincial government in response to the questions of the PML-N MPA Sobia Shahid had presented the detailed of 204,533,952 plants in the house. According to the official statistics, 11,18,12225 trees have been planted in Malakand Forest Region-III. Out of the total 10256825 trees were planted in Shangla, 5864775 in Kalam, 11283500 in Swat, 9600000 in Buner, 26673897 in Malakand, 21431646 in Lower Dir, 14331384 Upper Dir, 5438011 Dir Kohistan and 6932187 in Chitral respectively.
Under the project 8.423 million plants were planted in Kohat Forest Division including 25,255,51 in Kohat, 31,23069 in Karak and 2774241 in Hangu. Similarly, 82,769,908 trees have been planted in Northern Forest Region-II, Abbottabad. Out of these trees 8,929,400 were planted in Haripur, 16,157,939 in Abbottabad, 30,041,117 in Mansehra, 14, 180,346 in Battagram, 3,856,616 in Torghar, 700,230 in Kohistan and 8,904,260 in Shangla respectively.
Furthermore, D.I. Khan Forest Division, which is comprising of D.I.Khan and Tank districts, 1161063 plants were planted in former while 462895 plants in the later respectively. The question was on the agenda of the provincial assembly on last Friday, but to the lack of quorum the proceedings of the house could not be held as the treasury benches were hesitating to face questions from the opposition over the subject.
