Capital Development Authority (CDA) Tuesday informed Sub-Committee of Senate on Cabinet Secretariat that 80 percent work on Senate Housing Society has been completed. The Sub-Committee of Senate on Cabinet Secretariat meeting was held here with convener committee Senator Kalsoom Perveen in the chair. The meeting discussed in detail the implementation on recommendations on Sir Syed Memorial Society, Sawan Gordon Housing Society, Senate Housing Society and Housing Society of the Ministry of Interior.
The committee also discussed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) laws and amendments made in consultation with Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration regarding regulating housing societies in the federal capital. The subcommittee after having thorough deliberation on the issue of Senate Housing Society and those members, who had made payments of plots so far, directed the Chief Commissioner to sort out their issues at the earliest. The committee further directed for mutation of property on the names of the members.
The officials of CDA informed the subcommittee that 80 percent work on Senate Housing Society has been completed; adding land had been leveled for construction of road from Gulshan-e-Ravi. The subcommittee expressed concern over non-availability of gas and electricity connections to the homes and other buildings built on private property.
The convener committee said zoning of Islamabad is not correct one, adding that the apex court also objected to it. Regarding Housing Society of the Ministry of Interior, Kalsoom Perveen questioned that why the administration didn't utilize the amount in purchase of land and kept it deposited in bank without any purpose. The committee meeting was attended by Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Hidayatullah, Islamabad Chief Commissioner and CDA officials.
