The Karachi Port handled 137,464 tonnes of cargo comprising 110,019 tonnes of import cargo and 27,445 tonnes of export cargo including 3,490 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 110,019 tonnes comprised of 25,513 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,704 tonnes of general cargo; 38,055 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 35,500 tonnes of coal; 2,555 tonnes of soyabean meal and 38,749 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,445 tonnes comprised of 19,894 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,351 tonnes of wheat and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,490 containers comprising of 2,063 containers import and 1,427 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 504 of 20's and 597 of 40's loaded while 71 of 20's and 147 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 381 of 20's and 440 of 40's loaded containers while 02 of 20's and 82 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Express Black Sea, MT Shalamar, Willet, Selin-D, Cos Prosperity and BBC Orion carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Long Beach Trader, Navios Verano, Libra, Tubul, Stolt Sycamore and BW Zambesi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 89,496 tonnes includes 43,400 tonnes of LNG; 3,864 tonnes of palm oil; 1,648 tonnes of canola seeds and 40,584 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 32,186 tonnes includes 32,186 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,830 containers comprising of 2,136 containers import and 1,694 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely MV Star Sirius carrying canola seeds sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three ships namely CV MSC Rachele, CV MSC Joanna and CV Express Black Sea carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV MSC Rachele, CV MSC Joanna, CV Express Black Sea, MV Star Sirius, MT Colar Maria and MT Chemroute Sun were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Marie Delmas, CV APL Antwerp, CV MSC Heidi, MV Panorama, MV Daranee Naree, MT Maria-III, MT Quetta, MT Pitali Lady, MT Contantinos, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Rainbow Island and MT Horizon carrying containers, soyabean, cement, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, CV Northern Magnum, MV Panorama, MV Daranee Naree and MT Contantinos carrying containers, soyabean, cement and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were five ships namely CV Prosper, CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV Northern Magnum, CV Athenian and MT Secon-8 carrying containers and steel coil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There are four ships namely CV Marie Delmas, MV Secon-7, MT British Emerald and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
