The Met Office on Wednesday warned the farmers of a considerable yield loss from outgrowth of weeds in standing crops, saying that the unneeded plants should be eradicated for a better production. It said the weeds that sprout within the standing crops inflict a sizable loss on growers every year, as they consume a major share of input ingredients to scale down the production.
It also asked the growers to schedule irrigation plans keeping in view the moderate rainy spells during the last 10 days of February. Ti also said that the frosting weather in some parts of the country could damage crops, nurseries and orchids, asking them to step up protection.
Wind is likely to blow with a normal pattern across the most agriculture plains with a sandstorm swirling in Southern Punjab and Upper Sindh. Fog is also expected to engulf over some plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during morning hours.
Night temperature is expected to drop slightly by 1-2 degrees celsius, however, it is likely to remain slightly normal during the day in the most parts of the country.
In Punjab: Weather is likely to remain mainly cold and cloudy weather with a light to moderate rainfall in the most of agricultural plains. Fog will continue to prevail over a few plain areas of the province. In Sindh: Dry weather is expected in the parts coupled with fog gripping over a few plain areas of upper parts of the province in morning hours. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A light to moderate rainfall with a light snowfall over the hills is expected in upper parts of the province.
In Balochistan: Mainly cold and cloudy weather with a light to moderate rainfall is expected in the most of agricultural plains of the province. In Gilgit-Baltistan: Mainly cold and cloudy weather is expected in its most parts with a light to moderate rain/thunderstorm at many places. In Kashmir: Mainly cold and cloudy weather is expected in its most parts with a light to moderate rain/thunderstorm and snowfall over hills at the most places.
